We all know the door clearly exists, but any real facts about its origins or purpose have been lost to the sands of time. It's thought by many of Rogueport's residents that the behind the door lies a treasure of immeasurable value. Despite the possibility of striking it rich, hardly anyone ventures down here. The place simply gives off a definite but undefinable bad vibe.

Boggly Woods (Chapter 2) A mysterious forest far isolated from anywhere else, where light and color seem to take on unexpected qualities, rendering the landscape in photo-negative hues and its inhabitants almost completely monotone. At the center of the forest is the Great Tree, where the Punies make their home.

The Glitz Pit (Chapter 3) The arena in which the magic of Glitzville happens. It seems that fights are constantly being held here, attended by throngs of adoring fans and broadcast to millions worldwide. In spite of it's superficial glory, the conditions for all but the best fighters are mediocre at best and disgusting at worst. Grubba expects you to adhere to his conditions in battle. If you don't, you won't advance to the next rank, even if manage to win.

It's said that a horrible monster is responsible for the curse, and that defeating it may be the key to reverse it. The local Crows may provide some useful information towards this goal, if only you could listen in on their conversations...

However, to get permission to fire the cannon, Mario first has to find the elusive General White, who seems to be everywhere except where he needs to be!

The Moon (Chapter 7) You know, that moon. Bower's Super Drillship 9000 (Interlude) Also known as simply Bowser's Drillship. Bowser is finally done kidding around, and has kidnapped Professor Frankly, learned about the Thousand-Year Door, and has constructed a massive airborne drillship with which he plans to siphon the power of the stolen Crystal Stars and drill through to whatever lies behind the Thousand-Year Door, destroying Rogueport in the process. Fortunately, Joline is willing to use the entirety of Glitzville as a gigantic battering ram to knock the Drillship off target and allow Mario and his companions to board it unharmed. Still, without the Crystal Stars, Mario is severely underpowered and will have to use all his brains and brawn to foil Bowser's plans.

Their relations with the nearby Petalburg are tense at first, but gradually the two towns warm up to each other. Lies between the edge of the Impact Site and a previously-undiscovered portion of Petal Meadows.

Palace of Shadow (Chapter 8) What lies in wait behind the Thousand-Year Door: An improbably massive and ornate palace just emanates palpable dread. It's said that a fantastic treasure lies in wait for those that can brave the palace's ferocious monsters and numerous traps and come out the other side in one piece. But perhaps those legends were wrong all along, and there really is nothing but misery and misfortune waiting for you at the bottom? The entirety of the Palace of Shadow is encased in a thick layer of black, unbreakable stone, preventing access from anywhere in Rogueport's sewers except the Thousand-Year Door... unless you have a drill powered by energies from the Crystal Stars, however.

The Pit of 100 Trials A strange series of 100 descending chambers located adjacent to the Hall of the Thousand-Year Door. Each chamber contains vicious monsters, and only by defeating all the monsters in one chamber will the way down to the next one open up. Those lucky enough to have descended into the Pit and bail out before it was too late have reported that certain chambers contain fabulous treasures, but also that the monsters become increasingly hostile and difficult to defeat the deeper you descend. Nobody is known to have reached the 100th chamber and survive. A morbid curiosity.

Hall of Memory Another architectural oddity located next to the Hall of the Thousand-Year Door. It looks like this place contains massive portraits of the previous big, bad bossses you've defeated. Jump into said portraits and you can relive those battles! It looks like you can also challenge shadowy versions of these bosses, who are much, much tougher than their original incarnations. Like a lot of the stuff down here, it gives people a really bad gut feeling.
  • For information regarding enemies fought in the Hall of Memory, please refer to the Hall of Memory section of this page.
Pipe Room A massive area in Rogueport's sewers that's nothing but a twisting mess of pipes! It's said that you can access most any place from here, but that you have to activate a pipe at your destination first! It also looks like there's some pipes situated on the ceiling as well. I bet those pipes could take you to even more places! If only there were a way to get up there...
